10 things to know about Anna Hazare 'n Jan Lok Pal Bill.. !

1. Who is Anna Hazare?

An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War

2. What's so special about him?

He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra

3. So what?

This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills.

In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.

4. Ok,...?

This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.

5. Really, what is he fighting for?

He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

6. How that can be possible?

He is advocating for a Bil, The Jan Lokpal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

8. It's an entirely new thing right..?

In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

7. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?

The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.

Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the JAN LOKPAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?

A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.

9. Is he alone? Whoelse is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?

Mahindra -Another Indian Aviation Player

Mahindra Aerospace of the ₨279.22-billion utility vehicle maker Mahindra Group will become the first Indian private firm to manufacture smaller civil aircraft for the Indian general aviation market, which is set to boom this decade.

"We will manufacture the turboprop aircraft in 2-20 seat capacity at our recently acquired Gippsland Aeronautics (GA) in Victoria State of Australia and market them in India," Mahindra Board Member Hemant Luthra told IANS here.

Once Mahindra Aerospace plant at Malur near Bangalore is set up and certified for production in the next three years, the manufacturing will be shifted to India to hard-sell the multi-utility aircraft for various civil aviation requirements.

"We want to be the premier Indian producer of aircraft. We will explore every opportunity to become a top aircraft manufacturer on the lines of the Brazilian Embraer," Mahindra Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra said on the margins of an aviation event here Saturday.

The 26-year-old GippsAero is a leading turboprop aircraft manufacturer for the general aviation sector and has certification in 32 countries worldwide, including the U.S. Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR 23), which testifies the highest degree of safety to fly fare-paying passengers between small and remote airfields.

Mahindra Aerospace acquired majority stake (75.1 percent) in GippsAero and Aerostaff Australia for Rs.175 crore (₨1,684.17 million) in December 2009 jointly with Kotak Private Equity.

Aerostaff is a 20-year-old manufacturer of aerospace components and assemblies for global aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) at Port Melbourne in Victoria state.

About 250 smaller aircraft of GippsAero operate in 34 countries. It currently has an order book to manufacture about 20 aircraft in the 8-10 seat capacity.

"As aircraft manufacture is labour intensive, there will be advantages in assembling some aircraft in India but safety is paramount. Till our factories get accredited for the highest safety standards, the planes will be made in Australia and will gradually migrate them to be made in India," Luthra said.

As GippsAero has IP/type certificate approvals and produced various aircraft meeting international standards, Mahindra plans to manufacture even the five-seater turboprop, jointly developed by Mahindra Plexion Ltd with the state-run National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) here.

The prototype, codenamed NM5, is a multi-role, multi-mission civil aircraft, modelled on NAL's Hansa project.

"NM5 has a huge potential in the Indian market, as it can be used for short hauls by corporate executives, VIP travel, tourism, medical evacuation, training pilots and ferrying cargo," Luthra said.

A study conducted by A.T. Kearney for the Mahindras revealed about ₨221.6billion (Rs.23,250 crore) of general aviation aircraft are sold worldwide every year, with turboprops accounting for over 50 percent of the total market.

"We see a tremendous market in India and overseas. We will also price our product against competition to ensure that we have enough orders to deliver every year," Luthra added.

With the civil and military aircraft market set to grow exponentially, Mahindra Aerospace has decided to invest ₨2,216.01 million (Rs.230 crore) in the Malur plant to expand capacity for rolling out smaller aircraft and components to tier-1 aerospace suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

"We are encouraged by tier-1 suppliers and OEMs to quadruple our investment in Bangalore facility from ₨443.2 million planned earlier. We are looking at a 20-acre land, with access to an old airstrip at Kolar for test flights," Luthra noted.

The company plans to get its components' manufacturing facility certified first and then the assembly plant in the next 18-24 months.

The Malur facility will allow the company to make components for the general aviation market, meet offset needs of OEMs selling civil or military aircraft to India and an effective vendor to global aerospace majors.

"General aviation is a vast network, with cities as a primary hub being served by larger aircraft/jets. We intend to serve the final frontiers with smaller/turboprop aircraft that can land on unpaved or short runways, making any city/town accessible," Mahindra said

Adobe finally jumps on the HTML 5 bandwagon with Adobe Edge

Being a creative in these times is pretty exciting. After the firm abandonment of Flash on iOS, the world seems to be ignoring Flash and moving towards the more robust but still nascent HTML5. With lots of big name companies and designs studios jumping on the HTML5 bandwagon, with majority of clients are demanding HTML5 to get their brands and messages through mobile as well desktop spaces.

Adobe in all this could easily have thrown everything it had against the overwhelming odds. Instead of succumbing to ego, Adobe instead just kept its ear to the ground, and today they have just revealed Adobe Edge, a software that makes uses HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript to create animations and UI elements.

This is an extremely smart move by Adobe, instead of fighting fire with fire, they have launched the solution that all HTML 5 designers have been waiting for. Adobe in these last few years is still streamlining Flash and the Flash player. However, it seems they are also beginning to realise that having a cumbersome Flash player that constantly needs updates is not the way to go. To delete all .svn folder in Linux just follow the steps below:-

Start Terminal

change your current directory to your project folder (ex: /Users/me/Sites/project_a)
type
find ./ -name ".svn" | xargs rm -Rf
and enter.
Done, all your .svn folder has been deleted.
By the way, you also can apply this method to remove all .svn folder in Mac machine.

We get a lot of great feedback about how Gmail helps you be more efficient, keep in touch with family and friends, and get work done. We've saved you from forgetting attachments and made sure that you got the right Bob. Over the years, adding countless features to Gmail has made it an increasingly powerful communication hub, but along the way the interface has also become more cluttered and complex.

That's one of the reasons we're embarking on a series of interface updates to help strip out unnecessary clutter and make Gmail as beautiful as it is powerful. This is part of a Google-wide effort to bring you an experience that's more focused, elastic, and effortless across all of our products. The changes are not going to happen all at once. We know that you love and care about Gmail as much as we do, and we'll be working on these upgrades gradually over the next few months to allow plenty of time to understand and incorporate your feedback into the evolving design.

We're kicking things off with two new themes for you to try out as a sort of sneak peek at what we're up to. Starting today, you'll see the "Preview" and "Preview (Dense)" themes in the Themes tab in Gmail Settings. Why two themes? Our new interface will eventually expand dynamically to accommodate different screen sizes and user preferences, but until then you can pick the information density that you prefer.

If you poke around you'll hopefully find a lot to like and a much cleaner, modern look but also few rough edges. In particular, some Labs features may look a little strange in the new themes. Google introduces mobile payment through Smartphone's

Google now introduces mobile payment system that will let shoppers pay by waving their phone instead of using a credit card. Google will offer mobile payments with MasterCard and Citibank, as well as with cell phone carriers, hardware manufacturers and retailers.

These mobile wallets will be initially available only on Google's Nexus S phone and will use a Citibank-issued Master Card credit card number and a virtual Google Master Card prepaid card. Consumers can make payments at any of the 124,000 merchants that have Master-Card's Pay Pass terminals, which accept contactless payments.

The three companies have also teamed up with a few retailers - Macy's, American Eagle Outfitters and Subway. After these retailers upgrade their terminals - at first, only retailers in New York and San Francisco will participate - consumers will also be able to redeem discounts and participate in loyalty programs.

For years several companies have been working on mobile wallets that have not been adopted due to certain reasons that include how the various stakeholders will be paid and how the wallet will take shape. Mobile phone carriers, banks, credit card issuer's payment networks and technology companies have been conflicting over their roles.

"Google is dipping their toe into the water and it will accelerate other efforts from other providers," said Rick Oglesby, a senior analyst at the Aite Group, a research and advisory firm focused on the financial services industry. Google plans to use a technology called near-field communication, or NFC, which is incorporated into a chip in mobile phones to make payments, redeem coupons, earn loyalty points and receive special offers.

When a phone is waved in front of a credit card reader, it wirelessly sends an encrypted signal with a person's credit card information. After which, transaction is processed like a normal credit card transaction at a store.

Google's announcement has been expected since it introduced the latest version of its Android mobile phone software, which has the capacity for NFC, and its Nexus S phone, which includes an NFC chip.

Is India not a peaceful place to live in?

According to the report of Global peace Index (GPI), 2011, India has fallen into the 20 least peaceful countries list. India is queuing up with countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan. The country is been ranked 135 out 153 nations in the world. Pakistan is ranked 146 and Afghanistan 150 reports Anahita Mukherji for Economic Times.

The Global Peace Index is an initiative of the Institute for Killelea's Economics and Peace, an international think tank that explores relationships between business, peace and economic development.
Now in its fifth year, the GPI measures the relative peacefulness of 153 countries by looking at both qualitative and quantitative indicators that combine internal and external factors determining a nation's peacefulness. These include arms imports and exports, violent crime, battlefield deaths, prison populations, potential for terrorism, political stability and the likelihood of violent demonstrations. The Index also seeks to understand how peace impacts global economics and business, and vice versa.

Iceland topped the ranking as the World's most peaceful nation and Somalia ranked the least as the World's least peaceful nation among the 153 nations. Steve Killelea, founder of the Global Peace Index said that India fell by 7 points and the fall in rankings is largely due to an increasing perception of criminality in society. He mentioned that the increased perception of violence in India was because of the repeated terror attacks in the recent times which makes people insecure and also made it a volatile neighborhood.

The advisory panel apportioned scores based on the relative importance of each of the indicators on a 1-5 scale. Two sub-component weighted indices were then calculated from the GPI group of indicators: 1) a measure of how at peace internally a country is; 2) a measure of how at peace externally a country is. The overall composite score and index was then formulated by applying a weight of 60 percent to the measure of internal peace and 40 percent for external peace.

India's total score was 2.570. A few details of the peace indicators scores are as follows, Number of external and internal conflicts fought -5, Relations with neighboring countries-4, Number of displaced people as a percentage of the population-1, Level of disrespect for human rights-4, Potential for terriorist acts-4, Number of homicides per 100,000 people-2, Level of violent crime-3, Ease of access to small arms and light weapons-4, Military capability/sophistication-4 and Political instability-1.25.

India's score remains the same on most parameters compared to its last year scores. Homicide and crime rates in India, too, are a lot lower than many other countries but the fall in rankings is largely due to an increasing perception of criminality in society.

Steve said "Despite a decade-long war on terrorism, the potential for terrorist acts has increased this year offsetting small gains made in prior years". "The fall in this year's Index is strongly tied to conflict between citizens and their governments; nations need to look at new ways of creating stability other than through military force," said Steve Killelea. The GPI shows that for the third consecutive year, levels of peacefulness have dropped across the globe. The uprising in the Arab world and parts of Africa had much to do with an increase in global violence this time around.

Google unveils 'Google Wallet'

Google is unveiling a new age for payments through its electronic wallet for Android Phones at an event held at New York. It will be launching its long time plan of mobile payments which will be known as 'Google Wallet.' Users of Android phones equipped with an NFC chip will be able to use this new service. Initially the service will be made accessible to cities like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C.

This new method of payment will allow consumers to make store purchases and redeem coupons by waving smartphones at checkout counters. The service is expected to tap near-field communications technology and would allow users to pay for retail purchases by holding the devices up to a specialized reader at checkout counters.

Near-field communications allows devices like mobile phones, to swap and exchange information wirelessly when they are near each other, about 4 inches. Consumer can use the NFC technology to pay for items by using their smartphones to send payments directly from their bank accounts to a store terminal.

Speculations were high that Google was partnering with MasterCard and Citigroup to allow the financial giants' customers to use their debit and credit cards to pay for purchase from their Android smartphones. It is to be noted that Google also paid for the installation of thousands of NFC short-range, wireless point-of-sale systems from VeriFone at stores in New York and San Francisco.

It is anticipated that around 40 million to 50 million NFC-equipped phones will be sold in 2011, according to a research firm Forrester. However initially only two phones will be available with NFC chips installed in United States and they are Google Nexus S and the Nokia C7 or Astound. Soon many more will join the league once the service will kick start.

Apart from Google many other companies are also keen to make utilization of the demand for mobile payments business. Microsoft is planning to include NFC technology in a future phone of Windows Phone 7. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon have already formed a joint-venture payment system called Isis which is predicted to hit the market soon. However Apple's upcoming iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 are believed to be without NFC.

The only big challenge that lies ahead of these giants is to instill the confidence among its consumers about the security as mobile payments still scares people of losing their money and data. And there are some bad guys always watching, to take advantage of such new technology.

Internet creates 2.4 jobs for every job it destroys

The Internet, which has transformed the way we live, work, shop, socialise and now, is also emerging as a powerful catalyst for job creation, says a survey by global management consultancy McKinsey.

According to a report by McKinsey Global Institute, the Net has a sweeping impact on growth, prosperity and has "created 2.4 jobs for every job that it has destroyed".

"The Internet is a contributer to net job creation," McKinsey Global Institute said in its report, titled, 'Internet matters: The Net's Sweeping Impact on Growth, Jobs and Prosperity'.

"While jobs have been destroyed by the emergence of Internet, many more have been created during the same period, including jobs directly linked to the Internet, such as software engineers and online marketers as well as more traditional jobs -- logistics to deliver online purchases," it added.

McKinsey further noted that notwithstanding the fact that some jobs have been destroyed by the emergence of the Internet, a detailed analysis of the French economy showed that while the Internet has destroyed 500,000 jobs over the past 15 years, it has created 1.2 million other jobs.

"A net addition of 700,000 jobs, or 2.4 jobs created for every job destroyed," it said.

This result was also reflected in another McKinsey survey of more than 4,800 SMEs, which showed that 2.6 jobs were created for every one destroyed, confirming the Internet's capacity to create jobs across all sectors.

McKinsey examined the impact of the Internet on 13 countries -- the members of the G8, Brazil, China, India, South Korea and Sweden.

In the 13 countries that the survey covered, the Internet contributed an average 3.4 percent to the GDP, more than agriculture, energy and other better established industries.

Meanwhile, the United Nations, in its millennium development goals, lists Internet penetration as a key metric in efforts to reduce poverty and encourage rational development.

Around two billion people are now connected to the Internet and the number is growing by 200 million each year.

India and China are strengthening their position in the global Internet ecosystem rapidly and are showing growth rates of more than 20% in terms of new connections.

Some, rather most organizations reject his CV today because he has changed jobs frequently (10 in 14 years). My friend, the ˜job hopper™ (referred here as Mr. JH), does not mind it. well he does not need to mind it at all. Having worked full-time with 10 employer companies in just 14 years gives Mr. JH the relaxing edge that most of the ˜company loyal™ employees are struggling for today. Today, Mr. JH too is laid off like some other 14-15 year experienced guys " the difference being the latter have just worked in 2-3 organizations in the same number of years. Here are the excerpts of an interview with Mr. JH:

Q: Why have you changed 10 jobs in 14 years?

A: To get financially sound and stable before getting laid off the second time.

Q: So you knew you would be laid off in the year 2009?

A: Well I was laid off first in the year 2002 due to the first global economic slowdown. I had not got a full-time job before January 2003 when the economy started looking up; so I had struggled for almost a year without job and with compromises.

Q: Which number of job was that?
A: That was my third job.

Q: So from Jan 2003 to Jan 2009, in 6 years, you have changed 8 jobs to make the count as 10 jobs in 14 years?

A: I had no other option. In my first 8 years of professional life, I had worked only for 2 organizations thinking that jobs are deserved after lot of hard work and one should stay with an employer company to justify the saying ˜employer loyalty™. But I was an idiot.

Q: Why do you say so?

A: My salary in the first 8 years went up only marginally. I could not save enough and also, I had thought that I had a ˜permanent™ job, so I need not worry about ˜what will I do if I lose my job™. I could never imagine losing a job because of economic slowdown and not because of my performance. That was January 2002.

Q: Can you brief on what happened between January 2003 and 2009.

A: Well, I had learnt my lessons of being ˜company loyal™ and not ˜money earning and saving loyal™. But then you can save enough only when you earn enough. So I shifted my loyalty towards money making and saving " I changed 8 jobs in 6 years assuring all my interviewers about my stability.

Q: So you lied to your interviewers; you had already planned to change the job for which you were being interviewed on a particular day?

A: Yes, you can change jobs only when the market is up and companies are hiring. You tell me " can I get a job now because of the slowdown? No. So one should change jobs for higher salaries only when the market is up because that is the only time when companies hire and can afford the expected salaries.

Q: What have you gained by doing such things?

A: That's the question I was waiting for. In Jan 2003, I had a fixed salary (without variables) of say Rs. X p.a. In January 2009, my salary was 8X. So assuming my salary was Rs.3 lakh p.a. in Jan 2003, my last drawn salary in Jan 2009 was Rs.24 lakh p.a. (without variable). I never bothered about variable as I had no intention to stay for 1 year and go through the appraisal process to wait for the company to give me a hike.

Q: So you decided on your own hike?

A: Yes, in 2003, I could see the slowdown coming again in future like it had happened in 2001-02. Though I was not sure by when the next slowdown would come, I was pretty sure I wanted a ˜debt-free™ life before being laid off again. So I planned my hike targets on a yearly basis without waiting for the year to complete.

Q: So are you debt-free now?

A: Yes, I earned so much by virtue of job changes for money and spent so little that today I have a loan free 2 BR flat (1200 sq.. feet) plus a loan free big car without bothering about any EMIs. I am laid off too but I do not complain at all. If I have laid off companies for money, it is OK if a company lays me off because of lack of money.

Q: Who is complaining?

A: All those guys who are not getting a job to pay their EMIs off are complaining. They had made fun of me saying I am a job hopper and do not have any company loyalty. Now I ask them what they gained by their company loyalty; they too are laid off like me and pass comments to me " why will you bother about us, you are already debt-free. They were still in the bracket of 12-14 lakh p.a. when they were laid off.

Q: What is your advice to professionals?

A: Like Narayan Murthy had said " love your job and not your company because you never know when your company will stop loving you. In the same lines, love yourself and your family needs more than the company's needs. Companies can keep coming and going; family will always remain the same. Make money for yourself first and simultaneously make money for the company, not the other way around.

Q: What is your biggest pain point with companies?

A: When a company does well, its CEO will address the entire company saying, ˜well done guys, it is YOUR company, keep up the hard work, I am with you. But when the slowdown happens and the company does not do so well, the same CEO will say, It is MY company and to save the company, I have to take tough decisions including asking people to go. So think about your financial stability first; when you get laid off, your kids will complain to you and not your boss.

Android apps to run on other phones

If you purchase a new smartphone there are a couple of choices you need to make beforehand. The first is what make and model of phone you desire, the second is the operating system you would prefer to use. Unfortunately, picking the phone inherently means you don’t have a choice in the OS it uses as they come pre-loaded.

Myriad is set to change that if you want access to Android on a smartphone that doesn’t offer it as an OS. The solution is the Myriad Alien Dalvik virtual machine, which allows Android apps to be run on alternative operating systems seamlessly.

This is actually more straightforward than it first seems. While Android is a full-blown operating system, Android apps run in a virtual machine due to the security that offers. So if you can recreate that emulation environment on another OS, the apps should run as normal and without any kind of performance hit to the app’s operation.

Myriad will be demonstrating Alien Dalvik at the Mobile World Congress next week, but the video above gives you a preview of it running on MeeGo using Nokia N900 hardware.

Instead of developing an app for multiple platforms, Alien Dalvik allows an Android app to be developed and deployed everywhere. The user will not know an Android app is running on their other OS, as the virtual machine being used is completely transparent and the app just runs as if it is native.

For the moment Alien Dalvik is slated to get a commercial release for MeeGo later this year. Other operating systems are going to be supported and Myraid say they will be announced in the next few months and hopefully in time for the initial launch.

Salary earners having an income of less than Rs 5 lakhs will not have to file tax returns from this year, a finance ministry official said.
"Salaried people, may be up to Rs 5 lakh...they need not file the (income tax) return," CBDT chairman Sudhir Chandra told reporters at the customary post-Budget press conference.

The exemption from filing tax returns come into effect from the assessment year 2011-12.

In case such a salary earner has income from other sources like dividend, interest etc. and does not want to file returns, he will have to disclose such income to his employer for tax deduction, Chandra said.
The government, he said, is working out a scheme and will notify it "very soon".
The Form 16 issued to salaried employees will be treated as Income Tax Return, he added.

High-earning non-European professionals, including Indians, will be exempted from an annual UK immigration cap which will come into effect in April.
The government yesterday announced that employers filling a vacancy that attracts a salary of 150,000 pounds or more will not be subject to the limit.
Home Office Minister Damian Green made clear that the decision to exempt those earning more than 150,000 pounds a year from the annual limit was intended to make it as business-friendly as possible and to dispel claims that Britain was not open for business.
"This shake up is part of the government's new annual limit on non-EU workers, which will take effect on April 6, " the British Home Ministry said.
The David Cameron government last year had announced a permanent immigration quota intended to slash the number of non-EU nationals permitted to work in the country to around 20,700.
Under the new system, employers will have to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) from the UK Border Agency for a specific post if they wish to bring someone to the UK.
Green said: "Britain needs to attract the brightest and the best to fill jobs gaps but this should never be at the expense of workers already here.
"We have worked closely with businesses while designing this system, and made it clear employers should look first to people who are out of work and who are already in this country.
"And those that do come here to work must know that we intend to make the route to settlement tougher. It can not be right that people coming to fill temporary skills gaps have open access to permanent settlement."
The annual limit of 20,700 COS will be divided into 12 monthly allocations. Due to the likely demand in the first month, 4,200 COS will be made available in April.
After that the limit will be set at 1,500 places per month. Any places that are unused each month will be rolled over to the following month.
In the event that the monthly allocation is over subscribed, COS applications will be ranked using a points system designed to favour jobs on the shortage occupation list, scientific researchers and those with a higher salary.
Once a COS has then been granted to an employer it must be assigned to the prospective employee within three months.

"Textbooks say you can't do it," said Philip Levis, assistant professor of computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford University. "The new system completely reworks our assumption of how wireless networks can be designed," a Stanford statement quoted him as saying.
Cell phone networks allow users to talk and listen simultaneously, but they use a workaround that is expensive and requires careful planning, making the technique less feasible for other wireless networks, including Wi-Fi.

India,Japan sign free trade agreement

Japan and India signed a bilateral free trade agreement that would abolish duties on more than 90 percent of trade for 10 years.
Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara and Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma concluded the pact in a ceremony at the foreign ministry in Tokyo.
The pact will "promote a strategic partnership between the two countries so that they can establish win-win relations and achieve growth", Maehara said.

Sharma said the pact "provides an overarching framework to promote our economic cooperation, both trade and investment, which will be rewarding for both India and Japan".
"We have noted in our mind that this will usher in a new era of economic engagement, which will bring development, innovation and also prosperity in both of our societies," he said.
The deal would eliminate tariffs on 90 percent of Japanese exports to India, such as auto parts and electric appliances, and 97 percent of imports from India, including agricultural and fisheries products, until 2021, the Japanese government said.
The two countries have been negotiating since January 2007.
Japan and India are also to continue talks on lifting employment restrictions to allow Indians to work in Japan as nurses and care givers. Japan, which is bracing itself for increasing health care requirements as its population ages, hopes to conclude the talks within two years, the government said.

Japan and India signed a bilateral free trade agreement that would abolish duties on more than 90 percent of trade for 10 years.

Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara and Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma concluded the pact in a ceremony at the foreign ministry in Tokyo.

The pact will "promote a strategic partnership between the two countries so that they can establish win-win relations and achieve growth", Maehara said.

Sharma said the pact "provides an overarching framework to promote our economic cooperation, both trade and investment, which will be rewarding for both India and Japan".

"We have noted in our mind that this will usher in a new era of economic engagement, which will bring development, innovation and also prosperity in both of our societies," he said.

The deal would eliminate tariffs on 90 percent of Japanese exports to India, such as auto parts and electric appliances, and 97 percent of imports from India, including agricultural and fisheries products, until 2021, the Japanese government said.

The two countries have been negotiating since January 2007.

Japan and India are also to continue talks on lifting employment restrictions to allow Indians to work in Japan as nurses and care givers. Japan, which is bracing itself for increasing health care requirements as its population ages, hopes to conclude the talks within two years, the government said.

Corruption kills the confidence of Indian investors

Corruption and the inflation are the major concern for Indian investors, according to a survey done by Value Note revealed. Arun Jethmalani, Managing Director Value Note said that the worries over inflation are still dominant but corruption has emerged as a major issue, and this kept the investors's confidence level low .

This survey was conducted in eight cities, Mumbai, Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad. The survey says that corruption has come out as a new confidence killer with 19 percent retail investors, eight percent companies and 16 percent advisors stating that it was the most negative economic indicator in the current scenario. It became the major cause of concern over past four quarters.
The Confidence Index in December 2010 quarter is 146.3 that is 0.9 points higher from September 2010 quarter. The retail ICI stands at the highest points at 159.5 wheras the advisor confidence index and the corporate confidence index comes after ICI at 147.2 and 132.2 respectively.

India's best students who became CEOs

Narayana Murthy got through IIT but his father couldn’t afford the fees.

As a boy, Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy was someone who could easily go unnoticed in a crowd. He was short, but sharp. Often, his seniors in school came to him for solving Science problems.
Murthy came from a lower middle class, Brahmin family from Mysore. His father, a school teacher, was fond of English literature. And like all the boys of his class, he too had dreams of going to IIT. So he worked hard, studied in the shade of boulders close to Chamundi hills, and helped many in his class to prepare for the entrance exam.

Murthy wasn’t surprised when he got through. When he broke the news of his success to his father, it is said his words were: ‘Anna, I have passed the exam…I want to join IIT.” Proud he was of his son’s achievement but he couldn’t afford the fees and so Murthy had to relinquish his IIT dreams. Murthy stayed back in Mysore. When asked about his decision to stay back, he said to his friends, "It is not the institution but you alone who can change your life with hard work".

He lived up to his own words. Several years afterwards, Narayana Murthy revolutionised India’s software industry by founding Infosys. And this has made him the icon of middle class dreams. He redefined India in the eyes world. India was no longer a third world country, but a fast developing nation. In the process, he promoted thousands of young, creative Indian minds to the world and made Infosys and India a hub of talent.

It is known to the world that he founded Infosys along with six others with just a few thousand rupees which his wife, Sudha Murthy gave. It was an incredible risk to take, but Murthy knew it was going to work, just as he knew he would get through IIT. Which he did, eventually. After Murthy graduated from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, he joined IIT, Kanpur.

Thanks to IT and its development, the little known romance of Murthy and Sudha Kulkarni is talked about everywhere. It is hard to believe reading from Sudha’s account of an introvert, quiet Murthy, that he is the same person to have revolutionised the IT industry.

When Murthy was asked by Sudha’s father about his ambitions, he said he wanted to become a politician in the communist party and wanted to open an orphanage.

While he has opened several orphanages since, his dream of becoming a politician still remains unfulfilled. After retiring from Infosys, Murthy was hoping to become President of India after the term of Dr. Abdul Kalam. Even though he denied having political ambitions, his supporters would like to see him on the throne.

Our Mysore Murthy is, no doubt, a visionary who has ignited millions of young minds.

Born on October 21, 1954 at Panchmari, Madhya Pradesh, Sarin was an academically bright student. He was equally good at sports like field hockey, boxing and various extracurricular activities. He wanted to follow his father's footsteps into the military by pursuing a career as a pilot, but when his mom protested, he applied and was accepted at IIT, Kharagpur.

He graduated from the IIT in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in the top 10 percent of his class and received the BC Roy gold medal for academic excellence. He received a full scholarship to the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate College of Engineering.

In the year 2003, Sarin became the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone. When he resigned in 2008 from his post Vodafone was the world's largest mobile phone company by revenue. It was the firm’s large market presence in India that catapulted Sarin into the limelight. Currently he serves on the boards of Cisco and Safeway, Inc.

The era of hard skills is over. Now, in this highly competitive professional world, employers crave for managers with critical soft skills that are key to effective performance across all job categories. Acknowledging the importance of soft skills, some refer them as 'life skills' and researchers even call them the 'hard stuff' of management.

The transferable quality is the key differentiator between hard skills and soft skills. Hard skills are domain specific and cannot be transferred, but soft skills are transferable skills which are necessary for every domain. While technical skills are necessary to impress in job interviews and to get a job, soft skills are essential to retain it. Here is our take on some of the most important business skills a person should have in professional life.
1. Interpersonal Skills
A man's success largely depends on his relationships and interactions with others. A modern day manager does not solely rely upon his position or power. The recent surveys done by top research firms like Gartner point to the growing popularity of the Android operating system (OS). service is hard to come by, after all, commercial telephonecompanies or phone communication operators need to pay connection fee to receiving called party’s providers no matter the calls are made to land line, cell phone or satellite phone, and regardless of it’s a trunk, toll or VoIP calls. Lots of sites that offer free worldwide phone calls has now defunct, e.g. AllFreeCalls. Most established PC-to-Phone or VoIP operators such as MediaRing gives free calls to limited countries or destinations as promotion to attract users.

There is another opportunity for free international phone calls in from PC to phone style, by using Google Talk, and Talkster integration with GTalk2VoIP. The complete full phone number must include country code and areacode. For example, a telephone number in UK will have the following phone number assigned in GTalk: 442071234567@talkster.gtalk2voip.com, or for USA, 12125551212@talkster.gtalk2voip.com.

A confirmation instant message will be sent by Talkster for instructions together with a local Talkster call-in number on how to place the free international calls for both calling party and called party. Typically, Talkster assigns a local Talkster number for calling party (the person you want to call) in their country, which allows he or she to incur only cheap local call charge (which may be free in some countries).

To place the free international call to your friend, click on friend’s number in the Google Talk Contact List.
Click on the Call button to start the call.
Talkster will dial out to the calling phone number from Google Talk.

When the calling party answers, there is 10 seconds for caller to check to see if he’s available to talk, and to instruct the answering party to hang up and callback using the caller’s local Taskster phone number in that country.

Wait while the calling party hangs up and calls back using the Talkster local number for the caller. Ensure that the calling party knows this number, else send the phone number to him or by email or IM. If the phone number is a mobile phone number, an SMS with Talkster call-in number will be sent to the cellphone too. The call recipient or the calling party must calls back in for the international call to be connected.
Note that Talkster uses Caller ID to recognize who to connect the call to, so Caller ID must not be disabled or suppressed.
